Ingredient Spotlight
| Ingredient | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Ripe cantaloupe | Base of the drink. Sweet, juicy, and packed with flavor |
| Evaporated milk | Gives a creamy texture without making it heavy |
| Sweetened condensed milk | Adds sweetness and richness in one step |
| Vanilla extract | Balances the fruit with warm notes |
| Water + Ice | Thins the mixture and keeps it cold and refreshing |
Step-by-Step Overview
1. Rinse and peel your cantaloupes. Remove seeds. Don’t blend them or it may turn bitter.
2. Dice the fruit and blend in batches with water until smooth.
3. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a large pitcher (especially if not using a high-power blender).
4. Stir in the evaporated milk, condensed milk, vanilla, and additional water if needed. Mix well.
5. Chill with plenty of ice. Top with extra diced melon to serve!

Equipment
Ingredients
- 2 large ripe cantaloupes peeled, seeded, chopped
- 6 cups water divided
- 2 cans evaporated milk
- 2 cans sweetened condensed milk
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- Ice as needed
Instructions
Cut and Prepare the Melon
- Wash the cantaloupes under cool water and pat dry.
- Slice each one in half

- Slice each one in half and scoop out the seeds with a spoon.
- Place each half flat side down and carefully cut away the rind using a knife, following the curve of the melon.
- Once peeled, cut the melon into small chunks or cubes. The size doesn’t need to be perfect since it will be blended.
Extract the Melon Juice
- Add half of the melon chunks and half the water to the blender
- Hold a fine mesh strainer over your blender. Place the scooped-out seed pulp into the strainer and use a spoon to press and squeeze the juice through into the blender. This adds extra flavor without needing to blend or strain the full drink. Discard the pulp and seeds once drained.
Blend the Melon in Two Batches
- Blend the first half until smooth and pour into a large 2-gallon pitcher or container. Repeat with the second half of the melon and water. Combine both batches in the same container.
Mix the Milk Base Separately
- In a separate bowl, stir together the 2 cans evaporated milk, 2 cans sweetened condensed milk, and 1 Tbsp vanilla extract until fully mixed.
- Sweetened Condensed milk going in
- Vanilla Extract going in.
- Mix
Add Milk Base Gradually
- Start by pouring half of the milk base into the melon mixture and stir. Taste and adjust. Continue adding more of the milk mixture until it reaches your desired sweetness and creaminess. Avoid adding it all at once so you can control the flavor.
Add Ice (see storage note below)
- If you’re serving the drink right away, you can stir ice directly into the container to chill it quickly. However, if you plan to store it for later, skip the ice in the pitcher and serve it over ice in individual cups to avoid watering it down.
Garnish and Serve
- Pour into ice filled cup
- For a fun and refreshing presentation, add small diced bits of cantaloupe on top of each glass. You can also slice a thin wedge or triangle of melon and place it on the rim of the cup as a garnish. Serve chilled and enjoy immediately.
- The final touch for a beautiful presentation! Enjoy!
